Gene Interaction
Previous research has established that HSV-1 is found in the brains of up to 70% of people with Alzheimer's. A team from the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York found that it was more likely to cause a problem in people who carry a mutant version of a specific gene called ApoE4, which is involved in the breakdown of fats by the body. They found the vast majority of Alzheimer's patients they examined carried the gene - and suspect that it works to make HSV-1 more active. Scientists have still to establish a direct link between the virus and the disease, but the Manchester team believe the findings offer hope for the future.
The future for 1072nm technology
Present day technology does not have the ability to “turn on” individual cell repair systems. Pharmacotherapy is aimed at removing the cause for the morbidity and expecting the body to repair itself. For example, treatment of infection is aimed at killing the bacteria causing the infection and then expecting the body to initiate its own repairs. 1072nm technology brings a new and revolutionary concept to the medical therapeutic arena ? Treatment of Dementia
A cohort of 10 patients were treated with 1072nm light, 9 of the 10 patients demonstrated an improvement in cognitive function, showing an improvement of the standard MMSE assessment compared to the original baseline. This represents a major advance in the treatment of dementia as existing pharmaceutical treatments merely slow down the progress of the cognitive decline. By stimulating each individual neurone to enter into a repair and regeneration state “old tired neurons”, which are alive but none functional are able to interact and once again become part of the cortical functional network. Clinical, albeit anecdotal evidence, suggests that daily treatments for as little as 6 minutes a day will have a positive effect upon the patients cognitive function.
The potential for this technology is not restricted to those individuals with established dementia, significant neuronal decline occurs decades prior to a formal diagnosis of dementia being established 1072nm therapy would be effective in that prodromal phase, helping to prevent the development of dementia.
Treatment of Age related deafness
Hearing loss with advancing years is a well established phenomenon, it has a medical term: presbyacousis. The loss occurs in the higher frequencies and eventually over time all frequencies are affected resulting in almost total loss of useful hearing.
